Our Volunteers

Our volunteers enable North West Recovery Communities to operate each week. They
are the recognised, friendly and familiar faces our participants see when they nervously enter for the first time or the comfort to somebody who knows that when they come through the door for the 30th time this year, they are in a safe space amongst people who care.

Our volunteers attend each of our cafes and drop in groups to give peer to peer support along with giving their time outside of the weekly program by supporting other recovery orientated ventures.

We ask our volunteers to attend training sessions every Tuesday. All year round, we learn together on a wide variety subjects we will face daily at our settings . This training allows our volunteers to feel more confident and informed when supporting anybody who attends our groups and cafes.

At North West, we follow the ROSC (Recovery Orientated System of Care) Model. Through years and years of collective experience, we know that we cannot help everybody alone and we know that we are only a small part of somebody’s journey. In our office and our cafes we have extensive information on other services and organisations throughout the North West of Glasgow and beyond, people and places that could be the next bit of the jigsaw for people to build their recovery capital. Our volunteers take the time to speak to the participants and are able to signpost them to the help or service they require. This could be energy support, food parcels or more meaningful activity to fill their weeks.

Our volunteers are our biggest asset and we couldn’t do what we do without them !
